Farm Animal Box:

Amazon.com: Fisher-Price Little People Caring for Animals Farm Set: Toys & Games

Animals are a huge hit for kids of all ages but 1-year olds are particularly entertained by them. Many books center around animals, farms are a popular place to visit with this age group and we use animal sounds to teach kids their earliest forms of language. So a great gift box for this age is farm animal-related. Start with the Little People caring for animals farm set, layer on a great puzzle to help them hone their fine motor skills (our two favorites are Melissa & Doug’s farm animals sound puzzle -each animal makes a sound as it is placed back in its place- and farm friends big knob puzzle -great for developing grasping and gripping skills. Finally, toss in the sweet “Big Red Barn” book and wrap it up!

Musical Box:

Melissa & Doug Band-in-a-Box Clap! Clang! Tap! - 10-Piece Musical Instrument Set

Babies love songs and rhythm. Foster their musical fun and discovery with a box of music-themed gifts. Start with the all-important instruments – this 10-piece set has everything your child needs to start a band with his friends. Take his passion for music onto the puzzle table with this musical instrument sound puzzle. Top it off with the sweet “If You Were My Bunny” – a story told to the tune of familiar children’s songs.

Mess-Free Water Craft Box:

Amazon.com: AquaDoodle - Draw N Doodle - Classic Mat: Toys & Games

Our 1 year olds are experimenting with drawing and are enjoying exploring different mediums (crayons, markers, chalk, paints). Introduce them to a new medium (water!) and guarantee mom a mess-free few minutes. Our two favorite water-based art activities are Aqua Doodle and Splash Art. Toss in a few portable Water Wow! and a few paint brushes so your child can take the fun with water on the road and into tubby time.
