Around 3-4 months baby will begin reaching and grasping for things. Larger objects or those that make noise or light up are particularly interesting to baby. As you have probably already discovered, with the arrival of a newborn, your home quickly becomes a sea of plastic toys. Rather than buy a toy that is focused on just one stage or skill, I like to buy those with a longer shelf life.
Here are toys that encourage working on reaching and grasping but also tummy time (2-4 months), fine motor skill development (6 months and on), knocking down (7-8 months), building up (12-15 months), mimicking animal sounds (18 months) and color and shape recognition (24 months).
